Basic Knowledge Of Cemented Carbide Is Introduced In Detail

Many laymen may not have a special understanding of cemented carbide. As a professional cemented carbide manufacturer, Zhuzhou Chuangrui Cemented Carbide Co.,Ltd will give you an introduction to the basic knowledge of cemented carbide today.

Tungsten Carbide has the reputation of "industrial teeth", and its application range is very wide, including engineering, machinery, automobiles, ships, photoelectricity, military and other fields. The tungsten consumption in the cemented carbide industry exceeds half of the total tungsten consumption. We will introduce it from the aspects of its definition, characteristics, classification and use.

1. Definition
Cemented carbide is an alloy with tungsten carbide powder (WC) as the main production material and cobalt, nickel, molybdenum and other metals as the binder. Tungsten alloy is an alloy with tungsten as the hard phase and metal elements such as nickel, iron and copper as the binder phase.

2. Features
1) High hardness (86~93HRA, equivalent to 69~81HRC). Under other conditions, the higher the content of tungsten carbide and the finer the grains, the greater the hardness of the alloy.
2) Good wear resistance. The tool life produced by this material is 5 to 80 times higher than that of high-speed steel cutting; the life of the abrasive tool produced by this material is 20 to 150 times higher than that of steel abrasive tools.
3) Excellent heat resistance. Its hardness remains basically unchanged at 500 °C, and the hardness is still very high at 1000 °C.
4) Strong anti-corrosion ability. Under normal circumstances, it does not react with hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid.
5) Good toughness. Its toughness is determined by the binder metal, and the higher the binder phase content, the greater the flexural strength.
6) Great brittleness. It is difficult to make tools with complex shapes because cutting is not possible.
3. Classification
According to the different binders, cemented carbide can be divided into the following categories:
1) Tungsten-cobalt alloys: The main components are tungsten carbide and cobalt, which can be used to produce cutting tools, molds and geological and mineral products.
2) Tungsten-titanium-cobalt alloys: the main components are tungsten carbide, titanium carbide and cobalt.
3) Tungsten-titanium-tantalum (niobium) alloys: the main components are tungsten carbide, titanium carbide, tantalum carbide (or niobium carbide) and cobalt.
According to different shapes, the foundation can be divided into three types: sphere, rod and plate. The shape of non-standard products is unique and requires customization. Zhuzhou Chuangrui Cemented Carbide provides professional grade selection reference.
4. Preparation
1) Ingredients: The raw materials are mixed in a certain proportion; 2) Add alcohol or other media, wet grinding in a wet ball mill; 3) After crushing, drying, and sieving, add wax or glue and other forming agents; 4) Granulate the mixture , pressing and heating to obtain alloy products.
5. Use
It can be used to make drill bits, knives, rock drilling tools, mining tools, wear parts, cylinder liners, nozzles, motor rotors and stators, etc.
